Serving Hope - A fine dining event for individuals experiencing homelessness

A Once in a Lifetime Experience— for our unhoused friends and neighbors

On October 28th, HomewardBound of the Grand Valley will be transforming the space at the North Avenue Shelter to create a once-in-a-lifetime event. Serving Hope is a fine dining experience for guests at the shelter, one designed to shift perspective and bring some joy back to those who need it most.

“When you are homeless, you don’t have the luxury to enjoy food-- it is simply fuel for survival,” said Rick Smith, CEO of HomewardBound of the Grand Valley,  “For those of us who are food secure, meals are times of joy, connection, and reverie-- something to be savored-- and our guests deserve to experience that.”

The evening will begin with a juice bar and social hour, with music provided by local musicians, the Killens. Then guests will be seated to enjoy a three-course meal prepared by Chef Dwayne, a guest at HomewardBound’s Pathways Shelter. With a team of volunteers, including students from CMU Tech’s culinary program, Chef Dwayne will masterfully create a culinary experience designed to create a memorable experience to rekindle the love and joy that can be expressed with food.
