Our Vision

To Eliminate the Unwanted Condition of Homelessness in the Grand Valley

Our Mission

To be unrelenting, audacious, and impatient in our pursuit of that vision

"Homelessness doesn't care about race or age. It doesn't care if you are a mother, father, daughter, uncle, niece, nephew or child. Someone graciously opened the door for me that night, offering shelter, food and a lot of other resources I did not know about. You guys were there when no one else was! Now I want to try to help just like you helped me."

— Joaquin, former guest

  • Educate funders and donors on the need for stable operational funding in addition to programmatic and capital funding for all Grand Valley nonprofits.

  • Provide transitional outreach in nutrition and healthcare to all identified homeless individuals.

  • Collaborate to increase the availability of and access to affordable housing, transitional housing, and shelters.

  • Dramatically increase systemic access to counseling and care management.

  • Increase the volume of our life transition programs.

  • Build a responsibility level of cash reserves.

Our History

Originally called Grand Junction Community Homeless Shelter, a coalition of agencies and individuals came together in 1998 to address Western Colorado’s critical need for overnight wintertime shelter for homeless individuals and families. Now, HomewardBound of the Grand Valley is an independent nonprofit leading the community in responding to poverty, food insecurity and homelessness.
