Ribbon Cutting Held for Unsheltered Services Center
A sizeable crowd of more than 100 people braved the crossing of Ute Ave. Monday to celebrate a ribbon cutting for an unsheltered services center at 261 Ute Ave.
The facility is scheduled to open by Dec. 20, according to the city of Grand Junction. The organizers wanted to get it open as soon as possible as the weather turns colder. According to United Way of Mesa County Executive Director Zebulon Miracle, 22 unsheltered people died in Grand Junction in 2022.
“This project is designed to provide hope, this project is designed to show what we as a community can do together, this project is designed so that next year we can have that number drop significantly,” Miracle said. “This project is designed to help people reach a new place in their lives.”
