Unhoused resource center looking to increase staff

The unhoused resource center, 261 Ute Ave., is seeing increased attendance and as a result is looking to bolster staff.

HomewardBound Chief of Staff Chris Masters told City Council earlier this week that with the increased numbers at the center, staffing has become an issue. HomewardBound, the operators of the center that opened in January, is looking to add staff to help with crowd control and other services.

“This means that we are making contact with individuals that we normally wouldn’t be able to get that contact with, and we are able to get them to services,” Masters said.

According to HomewardBound Board Chair Emeritus Bill Wade, the average daily attendance at the site was 116 people per day in April, 90 per day in May and 100 per day in June.

Wade said the number of monthly unique individuals to visit the site was estimated at 331 in April, 265 in May and 285 in June.
